Aquatics Director - Cordova, TN at YMCA of the USA

Job Description

Oversee all aquatics activities at the YMCA, including aquatics operations, lifeguarding, maintaining safe swimming conditions, and pool operations. This position supports the Y’s mission by creating a positive atmosphere where everyone is respected and welcomed, building relationships with team members and members alike.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have a current lifeguard, CPR/AED, O2, and First Aid certification or obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Agrees to possess a Certified Pool Operation (CPO), ARC LGI or YUSA Swim Instructor certification and American Red Cross Lifeguard certification within three months of employment.
  • At least two years of experience in instruction and management of a wide variety of Aquatics programs and pool maintenance.
  • Must have good interpersonal, public relations, and communication skills, including the ability to make presentations and handle media inquiries. Proficient in swimming and safety skills. Must be willing to learn all the YMCA does to impact our community.
  • Ability to work significant evening and weekend shifts required.
Essential Functions General Operations
  • Manages a team of aquatics personnel; schedules, monitors, and approves time for all team members.
  • Schedules, conducts, and documents training to ensure all team members’ certifications are up to date. Training includes ARC, CPR, and First-Aid.
  • Develops and monitors the annual Aquatics department revenue and expense budget to meet center fiscal objectives. Accountable for all aquatics department financial results.
  • Maintains the highest standards in pool safety and is in full compliance with association and ARC standards and guidelines at all times.
  • Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local, ARC, ADA guidelines, and YMCA health and safety regulations.
  • Assists in YMCA fundraising activities, annual campaigns, and special events as needed.
Lifeguard
  • Responsible for lifeguard shift scheduling and filling lifeguard shifts as necessary.
  • Responsible for training and recertifying current and potential lifeguards.
  • Oversees lifeguards while on deck, coaching the team when necessary.
Pool Operations
  • Conducts and ensures proper maintenance of pools; maintains accurate records of pool chemical levels and facility maintenance.
  • Responsible for fixing basic pool maintenance issues.
  • Tracks and oversees the completion of daily chemical logs.
