Overview
Membership Associate - Cordova YMCA at YMCA of Memphis & the Mid-South. This part-time position delivers excellent service to members, guests, and program participants. Responds to member and guest needs, promotes memberships and programs, and maintains cleanliness and organization of the lobby area.
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
Responsibilities- Provides excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the branch and on the phone, contributing to member retention.
- Interviews and/or tours prospective members; sells memberships.
- Builds relationships with members; helps members connect with one another and to the YMCA.
- Handles and resolves membership concerns and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
- Applies all YMCA policies dealing with member services.
- May hand out locker keys and towels; may monitor the locker rooms as required.
- Employee will accurately report work time via approved YMCA Clocking Method:
Branch Kiosk, YMCA site phone, YMCA iPad, or timesheet.
- Attend and participate in departmental meetings
- Assist with facility tours
- Serve as a YMCA representative at special events
- Attend designated YMCA trainings and certification courses
- Mission Advancement: Accepts and demonstrates the Y’s values, serves others and fulfills community needs, recruits volunteers and supports fundraising.

- Minimum age 18
- Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED and First Aid
- Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Ability to connect with people of diverse backgrounds
- Previous customer service, sales, or related experience
- Basic knowledge of computers
The part-time work schedules may vary per the Y’s hours of operation. Most Y’s are open 7 days a week:
Mon – Fri 5:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.;
Sat 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.;
Sun 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
- Frequent standing; may kneel or crouch
- Exposure to loud music
- Close, distant, peripheral, and depth visual abilities
- Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions
- Ability to perceive, identify and respond to signs of distress

CompensationSalary: $10.00-$12.00 per hour
