MOD / SERVICE MECHANIC JOB DESCRIPTION Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Elevator Modernization & Service Mechanic to join our team. This role is responsible for performing high quality elevator modernizations, routine service, troubleshooting, and repairs across a variety of elevator systems. The ideal candidate is safety driven, mechanically skilled, and committed to delivering excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities- Perform modernization projects including controller upgrades, door equipment replacement, machine room equipment, wiring, and full mod packages.
- Conduct routine maintenance on traction and hydraulic elevators to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and operational issues on elevator systems.
- Complete service repairs including door operators, valves, pumps, relays, selectors, and safety circuits.
- Respond to service calls
, perform adjustments, and restore units to full operation. - Ensure all work complies with ASME A17.1, state/local codes, and company safety standards.
- Maintain accurate service logs, repair documentation, and job reports
. - Communicate professionally with building owners, property managers, and customers.
- Collaborate with supervisors, project managers, and apprentices on job planning and execution.
- Participate in on call rotation as required.
Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 3+ years of experience as an Elevator Mechanic (mods, service, or repair).
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic and traction elevator systems
. - Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
. - Proficient in troubleshooting relay logic, controllers, door systems, and drive systems.
- Valid state elevator mechanic license (where applicable).
- Strong commitment to safety
, quality, and customer satisfaction. - Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
