Overview

What’s the Job? Ready to accelerate your career while helping our customers move forward? As a Technician at Penske, you’ll perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on a well-maintained fleet. You will help our customers keep their vehicles in shape and on the road.

2046 Whitten Rd, Memphis, TN 38133.

Responsibilities
  • Make sure vehicles are maintained and safe for our customers
  • Use Penske’s tools and technologies to log, research and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics
  • Perform preventative maintenance repairs (e.g., replacing or rotating tires) and complete vehicle component lubrication and replacement, some electrical system repairs, and cooling system maintenance on gas and diesel engine vehicles
  • Partner with your manager to learn new skills using Penske’s technician training and hands-on coaching
  • Work on other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and 1–2 years of automotive or diesel repair experience (preferred)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to solve problems and comfort using tools
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and outdoors
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to understand and comply with Penske management instructions, guidelines, rules, and regulations
  • Adherence to DOT, OSHA, and Penske safety and maintenance policies, including proper tool and PPE use
  • Regular, predictable attendance
  • As the position requires driving Penske and customer vehicles, a current driver qualification file is required (MVR check, DOT Physical, Safety History requests). CDL holders will have a DOT drug screen and FMCSA Clearinghouse review
  • Willingness to work the required schedule, work at the specified location, complete Penske employment application, consent to background checks, pass drug screen and DOT physical, and travel locally for training

This position is regulated by the Department of Transportation or designated as safety sensitive. Associates must maintain awareness of safety and follow all safety practices.

  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs (23 kg) and occasionally up to 100 lbs (45 kg); ability to push/pull tires over 100 lbs may be required
Pay, Hours, and Benefits

Pay: $22.75/hour

Hours:

Sunday - Thursday, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm

  • Second shift differential: $2.00/hour after 11:00 am
  • Third shift differential: $3.00/hour after 9:00 pm
