Job Summary

Active Commissioned Police Officer, Sheriff Deputy, or State Trooper in the state where work is performed will perform all necessary functions to ensure a safe and secure environment for Baptist Memorial Hospital (BMH) patients, visitors and staff, and their property, by enforcing BMH and Security Department policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Performs all other duties as assigned.

• Enforce BMH security rules, policies, and procedures, and enforce laws of the state where work is being performed as necessary in support of the mission. Maintain good standings on required certifications and licensures.
• Demonstrate exemplary interpersonal communication and customer service skills and maintain a professional appearance while serving as an ambassador of the organization.
• Monitor and authorize entrances and exits of individuals to guard against theft and maintain safety and security of premises.
• Operate and monitor alarm, security, video management, and access control systems.
• Patrol on foot and via company vehicle to further monitor the hospital campus.
• Secure premises by patrolling property, inspecting buildings and access points.
• Respond to alarms, disturbances, unusual or emergency situations using appropriate escalation of force up to following established protocols.
• Document occurrences and related acts as incidents occur to maintain the security of BMH. Perform escorts to staff as required within policy guidance.
• Maintain a detailed log of all activities.
• Maintain a satisfactory disciplinary record with the current employing law enforcement agency.

• Currently employed/active (2) years as a Commissioned Police Officer, Sheriff’s Deputy, or State Trooper – Required.

• High School Diploma or equivalent – Required. Completion of Certified Law Enforcement Training Academy – Required.

• College-level course in Criminal Justice.

• OC or Pepper Spray, Baton Certification. Possess or have the ability to obtain CPR/BLS/De-escalation certification within 14 days of hire.
• Completion of CIT training and taser certification.

• Knowledge of security and criminal investigation methods.
• Ability to exhibit appropriate behavior when greeting and assisting members of the public.
• Ability to maintain a working relationship with co-workers.
• Ability to carry out assigned duties.
• Ability to communicate effectively and verbally deescalate patients, staff, and visitors when necessary.
• Ability to organize multiple tasks and maintain control of workflow.
• Ability to understand and prepare written materials at a moderate level, such as Incident Reports.
• Ability to work without close supervision and to exercise independent judgment.

• Driver’s License required. Must maintain law enforcement certification during employment. Eligible for a surety bond and must maintain during employment – Required.

• Commercial Driver’s License.
