WORK HOURS: Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on event schedules. Hours include weekend travel to work competitions for Varsity Spirit. Schedule may adjust and vary based on travel needs.
PAY RATE: The pay range for this job is $90,000 - $110,000 plus the possibility of additional performance-based incentives.
Pay will vary based on criteria such as education, experience and qualifications of the applicant, location, internal equity, and alignment with the market.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Frequent travel within the region to oversee events.
HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACTThe Safety & Security Regional Specialist will oversee the safety, security, and risk management of competitions and camps across a designated region. This position is responsible for ensuring the safety of participants, staff, fans, and stakeholders by developing, implementing, and coordinating comprehensive security plans for select event. The Specialist will collaborate prior to the event with local law enforcement, security personnel, event/host staff and other stakeholders to create secure and safe environments for all attendees, while also ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry best practices.
This role is essential to maintaining the integrity of the event and ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants and attendees. The Safety and Security Regional Specialist will play a crucial role in the successful execution of secure and well-managed events.
WHAT YOU WILL DO Event Security Planning and Coordination- Develop and implement detailed security plans for select regional competitions and camps, ensuring the safety of participants, staff, spectators, and facilities.
- Coordinate with Varsity Spirit staff, local & federal law enforcement, emergency services, and private security teams to design effective security plan for select events.
- Ensure event venues meet all required security and safety standards, including crowd control, access points, and emergency evacuation protocols.
- Identify potential risks related to safety and security, including crowd management, public disturbances, and natural disasters.
- Develop risk mitigation strategies to address identified concerns, including contingency plans for emergency situations.
- Monitor and review security measures during the events to ensure any emerging risks are quickly addressed.
- Lead, train, and manage regional security teams, ensuring they are well-equipped to handle any situation.
- Conduct safety and security briefings for all event staff, including volunteers, to ensure clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities.
- Organize and oversee regular drills and training sessions to improve the readiness of security teams.
- Ensure all safety and security protocols align with national and regional laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Stay up-to-date on changes in laws, industry standards, and emerging security threats that could impact sporting events.
- Maintain accurate records of safety audits, incident reports, and post-event evaluations.
- Partner with Varsity Spirit Event Coordinators to serve as a point of contact for security-related matters for event organizers, teams, sponsors, and local authorities.
- Provide timely and detailed reports on safety and security activities before, during, and after events.
- Ensure effective communication between various stakeholders to foster collaboration and coordination prior to and during events.
- Oversee incident response procedures and manage any security or safety incidents, including crowd control, medical emergencies, or disturbances.
- Collaborate with law enforcement and medical teams to ensure rapid and coordinated responses during critical situations.
- Prepare post-incident reviews and recommendations for future improvements.
- Assist in the development and management of security-related budgets, ensuring cost-effective solutions without compromising safety.
- Manage resources, including security personnel, equipment, and technology, to ensure optimal event security.
- Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
