About The Job

Research and Development Interns at Helena Products Group (HPG) assist our Technical Development Manager team with a variety of field research initiatives to support Helena brands. This includes Helena Field Day activities, working with Marketing Services for trial branding, trial implementation, field trial visits, and data analysis. While working within the Research and Development team, interns gain an understanding of Helena's product development and processes in the agriculture and professional sectors of our industry.

What

Your Day Will Look Like
  • Works on assigned projects both independently and as a team member.
  • Assists R&D Personnel in designing and implementing a strategy for a successful Helena Field Day.
  • Develops protocols for product testing, including field plots, commercial use, and cooperative testing within the assigned area.
  • Collects, compiles, analyzes, and compares data from the trials.
  • Communicates results of testing and development to the appropriate R&D Personnel.
  • Completes weekly intern challenges to gain further insight about Helena and the industry.
  • Participates in weekly Research and Development team meetings.
  • Prepares and delivers a final project and presentation to HPG leadership.
  • Provides excellent customer service to all internal and external customers.
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned by the leader.
  • Maintains reliable and regular attendance.
  • Follows all company policies and procedures.
Education & Experience
  • Must be currently pursuing an associate or bachelor's degree in an agriculture-related field such as crop science, soil science, agronomy, plant pathology, entomology, or weed science.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak in English.
  • Communicating in Spanish is a valuable skill at Helena.

Successful completion of a drug test and background check is required for all positions at Helena.

Work Environment & Physical Aspects of the Job

At Helena, safety is our highest priority. We seek out extensive safety measures and put them in place to minimize exposure to anything that could be potentially harmful to our employees. The work environment for this position will be an office setting and outdoors in all types of weather conditions with exposure to outdoor elements. When working outdoors and possibly around moving equipment or mechanical parts, you may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, chemical and biological hazards, vibrations, and a risk of electrical shock.

This position requires you to use your hands for many different tasks and to talk, hear, walk, stand, sit, stand (8 hours a day or more), lift, carry, push, or pull (up to and including 50 lbs or more), reach overhead (up to and including 25 lbs), climb, grip, grasp, twist using hands and wrists, bend, and stoop for long periods of time, work below knee levels for short periods, and work above shoulder level for short periods.
