Job Description
The University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Nursing is seeking a full-time non-tenure Instructor/Assistant Professor. The role includes a 95% clinical practice assignment at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, planning and directing delivery of healthcare to the Pediatric Urology and Gastroenterology population, and a 5% teaching responsibilities in the College of Nursing determined in collaboration with the Department Chair and Director of Advanced Practice.
Responsibilities- Assess, diagnose, and treat patients with urologic and gastroenterological conditions according to approved protocol.
- Perform necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures under the supervision of the Medical Director.
- Participate in design and revision of protocols.
- Collaborate with Medical Physicians and ancillary personnel to promote quality patient care; make referrals as appropriate.
- Recognize and react to environmental safety factors related to patient care.
- Develop strong partnerships with patients, families, providers, nurses, and support staff; focus on high patient and family satisfaction and retention.
- Manage care of children with urologic and gastroenterological conditions, develop education plans for families, and order appropriate consultations and referrals when indicated.
- Master’s Degree or higher in a nursing specialty from an accredited university required;
Doctor of Nursing Practice preferred. - Three (3) years of clinical practice experience at the RN level; APRN experience preferred.
- Current DEA certification; must be certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support.
- Unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) and Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) in Tennessee or eligibility to obtain licensure in Tennessee required.
- Current certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in Primary or Acute Care.
