Nurse Practitioner needed for a Student Health Center in Memphis, TN.

Job Responsibilities

• Assessment and management of students’ acute, chronic, and preventive health issues, consistent with defined practice guidelines and American College Health Association (ACHA) and CAS Professional Standards for Higher Education – Clinical Health Services.
• Provide appropriate medical treatment to students within the accepted professional standards and scope of practice.
• Collaborate with the registered nurse to formulate an individualized plan(s) of care for student patients.
• Perform laboratory duties, including waste management and written forms according to protocol, and exhibit knowledge of OSHA, TOSHA, CLIA, and other regulatory agency regulations as needed.
• Refer patients for specialized medical care beyond the Student Health Center, including coordination of medical transport as needed.
• Communicate effectively with staff, parents, students, physicians, and off-campus medical personnel to provide follow-up care and support to students.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Ability to work independently in a highly productive and fast-paced environment.
• Extensive knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and policies; proven leadership in risk management.
• Knowledge and experience with College policies and legal issues in higher education.
• Ability to investigate and respond to risk management and wellness concerns.
• Ability to provide perspective and utilize a proactive leadership style that encourages teamwork.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; full competence in office computer software.
• Understanding of student affairs/health services management and partnership building with students, faculty, staff, parents, and community.
• Ability to work with a culturally diverse population and promote inclusion and participation.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills; ability to handle complex and sensitive issues.
• Commitment to the vision and values of the College.
• Evening and weekend hours may be required periodically.
