Level I Trauma Center | Short-Term Acute Care Hospital
Start Date: 02/23/2026 (ASAP)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night shift, 3x12s (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Block Scheduling: Not approved (weekend block may be discussed during interview)
Weekends: As needed
On-Call: As needed
Floating: May float between like units/campuses within 20 miles (rare)
Locals: Not accepted (must live 100 miles from facility – strictly enforced)
Neuro Critical Care Unit
The Registered Nurse – Neuro ICU provides specialized critical care to patients with complex neurological and neurosurgical conditions. The RN is responsible for continuous assessment, monitoring, and management of critically ill neuro patients while collaborating closely with physicians and interdisciplinary care teams.
Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver high-acuity nursing care to Neuro ICU patients
Perform frequent neurological assessments and monitor for acute changes
Manage ventilated and hemodynamically unstable patients
Administer and titrate critical care medications per protocol
Monitor intracranial pressure (ICP) and cerebral perfusion parameters as applicable
Respond rapidly to neurologic and systemic emergencies
Accurately document patient care in the electronic medical record
Collaborate with neurology, neurosurgery, and critical care teams
Educate patients and families regarding plan of care and recovery
Active RN license (Compact or Tennessee) at time of submission
2 years of recent Neuro ICU experience with prior travel experience
OR
3 years of recent Neuro ICU experience with no travel experienceMinimum 2 years of RN experience overall (3 years preferred)
First-time travelers not accepted (may be considered with 3 years recent Neuro ICU experience)
Current BLS and unit-required critical care certifications
Must meet all Tier 2 travel compliance requirements
Driver's license required at time of submission
Ability to work required holidays per facility policy
Cerner EMR experience
Experience in Level I Trauma or high-acuity Neuro ICU environments
ADN or BSN accepted
