Role Overview
Responsible for delivering and coordinating nursing care for patients within a multidisciplinary team, utilizing the nursing process to ensure comprehensive, high-quality care. Provides compassionate, patient-centered care while supporting patients and families through emotional challenges and crises. Prioritizes patient safety and strives for optimal care outcomes through evidence-based practice. Educates and advocates for both patients and their families, empowering them with the knowledge and resources needed for treatment and self-care.
Demonstrates professionalism and upholds the MLH Mission, Vision, and Values, serving as a role model for excellence in nursing practice.
Key Responsibilities
Qualifications
Education
- Post-Graduate Certificate or Diploma in Nursing - RN
- Preferred:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing - RN
Experience
- Minimum 6 months RN experience
- Preferred:
Over 1 year experience in a similar clinical setting
Skills and Abilities
- Thorough understanding of patient care and the nursing process.
- Knowledge of the Nurse Practice Act and RN scope of practice.
- Critical thinking skills for complex clinical information processing.
- Ability to delegate tasks effectively within a team.
- Familiarity with healthcare technology (e.g., EHR, barcode scanning).
Licenses and Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association
- Registered Nurse - Tennessee Board of Nursing
- Preferred:
Certification in clinical specialty
Supervision
- The RN directs and delegates all patient care activities on nursing units.
Physical Demands
- Activities may include climbing, pushing, standing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motions.
- Must have good balance and coordination.
- Physical requirements include exerting up to 50 lbs. occasionally and 25 lbs. frequently.
- Requires close visual acuity, including color and depth perception.
- Frequent patient contact, including invasive procedures.
- Exposure to body fluids and hazardous materials.
- Ability to react quickly to emergencies.
