Job DescriptionTitle: Refrigeration Technician 3
Location: Production
Reports to: Maintenance Director
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Responsibilities- Under moderate supervision, maintain, repair, and examine refrigeration systems, working specifically with ammonia refrigeration. Perform preventative maintenance and respond to system interruptions. On-call availability for emergency repairs may be required.
- Maintain PSM, Refrigeration and Safety documentation retention (SOPs, LOTO, P&).
- Confer with operators, observe, test, and evaluate operation of machinery to diagnose root causes of malfunctions.
- Disassemble machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairs.
- Perform daily chemical testing and log results; adjust as needed to maintain refrigeration and utility systems within established limits.
- Periodic use and maintenance of fitted full-face respirator.
- Assist with inventory control.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Technical degree preferred.
- At least 7 years of experience.
- Technician II and PSM/RMP certification required.
- CMMS experience helpful.
- Must pass and maintain annual medical and pulmonary fit tests for respirator use.
Skills and Abilities
- English/Spanish bilingual is a plus.
- Knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems and Process Safety Management (PSM) is required.
- Use of technology such as computers and mobile devices is preferred.
- Experience in refrigerated food manufacturing plants.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as climbing ladders and moving around refrigeration systems.
- Environment may be wet or dry; temperatures range from
-20°F to 110°F. - Repetitive pushing, pulling, kneeling, bending and lifting objects in excess of 80 lbs.
- Walking or standing for long periods; ascending/descending stairs and ladders.
- Overtime and/or evening or weekend scheduling may be required.
- Schedules vary; 10-12 hour shift work required.
