Winder; Power Transformer Manufacturing

Position Summary

Set Up And Operate Various Machines And Equipment Needed In The Production And Manufacturing Of Transformers.

• Set up and operate various machines and equipment relating to the winding of conductor coils including but not limited to the winding table, cassettes, and multi-reel stand.
• Assemble high and low voltage coils.
• Set up and operate CNC equipment for pressboard processing such as routers and contour milling machines.
• Assist with monitoring and replacement of worn or defective router tooling and maintain dust collection system.
• Set up and operate core steel cutting equipment such as de‑coiler, straightener, shear, and stacker.
• Assist with monitoring and replacement of worn or defective shear dies and deburring tools.
• Provide feedback regarding programming to minimize spoilage, changeovers, and cycle time.
• Inspect, verify, and document quality criteria during production to ensure that units meet exact specifications, tolerances, and customer order requirements.
• Read blueprints, bills of material, specifications and work instructions to determine proper materials for processing, assembly and installation.
• Follow and comply with standard work procedures and sequence of operations to consistently meet production standards for safety, quality, cost, and productivity.
• Perform TPM and preventative maintenance tasks on equipment and machines.
• Practice 6S and comply with all safety rules, guidelines and safe working practices.
• Assist in training new employees including improving individual skills as well as assisting in the development of training materials.
• Assist other production areas as needed.
• Support and assist the Production Supervisor/Manager as needed.
• Understand and work under the direction of the appropriate HICO policy and/or procedure.
• Know HICO’s Quality and Environmental Policies. Be able to fully discuss the importance of these policies and how they impact work.

• High school education or equivalent, plus two years’ experience, or equivalent education, training and experience.
• Developed mechanical or technical skills.
• Experience using various hand and power tools.
• Must be able to read manufacturing drawings/specifications, blueprints or work instructions.
• Developed math and practical geometry skills.
• Basic computer skills with emphasis on MS Office products and understanding of computer applications.
• Knowledge and use of basic industrial measuring tools.

• Ability to perform mechanical assembly, set up and installation.
• Ability to work at elevated heights and climb stairs.
• Ability to inspect work.
• Ability to work in normal indoor temperatures.
• Ability to use a three (3) pound hammer for extended periods.
• Ability to stand and walk minimum 6‑8 hours per day.
• Ability to sit, squat, bend, stretch, and kneel frequently.
• Ability to forcefully grasp tools and materials for extended durations.
• Ability to work in confined spaces.
• Ability to climb and work up to 15 feet off the ground for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to use basic hand and power tools.
• Ability to perform repetitive movement.
• Ability to use all applicable PPE including but not limited to safety toe shoes, safety glasses, and gloves.
