Position DescriptionSPEC Building Materials Corporation is recognized as one of the nation’s leading wholesale distributors of quality building materials and equipment for commercial and residential roofing contractors. Since 1973, it has strategically grown to thirty-five branch locations throughout the Midwest, South, and Southeast.
We’re looking for team leaders who would like to run a business as if it were their own. The Manager in Training (MIT) program is designed to train associates in every segment of our business and culture. Upon completion, candidates will have the opportunity to run their own branch.
Training Modules- Customer Service / Counter Sales Training
- Residential and Commercial Product Training
- Inventory Management & Cost Control
- Logistics & Warehouse Management
- Branch Manager Training
- Outside Sales Training
- Leadership Training
- Preferably a 4‑year BS in Marketing, Sales, or Business.
- Two years of industry‑related experience in building materials.
- Two years of work experience.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Entrepreneurial spirit, self‑motivated and enthusiastic about our business.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Detail‑oriented with strong organizational and time‑management skills.
- Analytical, able to solve problems.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ethical, honest, dependable.
- Current state‑issued driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
- Legally entitled to work in the United States.
- Able to pass a company‑required drug test.
- Read, speak, and write English to communicate with vendors, customers, and branch employees.
Two years of industry (or industry‑related) experience in home building or remodeling is a plus. Two years of prior management experience (preferably in the building material distribution industry).
