Overseeing the daily operations of the Bartlett YMCA.
Job DescriptionThis position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Executive Director provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality programs and services that advance the mission of the YMCA of Memphis & The Mid South and support the Association’s strategic plan. Reporting to the District Vice President of Operations, this position oversees all aspects of the Bartlett YMCA, including a $2.5 million operating budget, 3,700 membership units, and a 55,000-square-foot facility.

- Staff and volunteer leadership
- Financial development, fiscal management, philanthropy and community partnerships, including local city government
- Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, business or equivalent preferred.
- 3 or more years of successful high level operations and management/leadership experience in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to direct total operations through volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of branch budget, marketing and public relations, and program development.
- Experience in management and development of volunteer involvement; ability to recruit top community leaders to Center board preferred.
- Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations.
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations, municipalities, and corporate partners.
- Y Multi‑Team or Organizational Leader preferred.
- Operations & Program Leadership – strategic oversight for branch operations, ensuring program quality, innovation, alignment with Association goals, strong community partnerships, and meeting revenue goals.
- People & Culture Development – coach and develop staff and volunteers, foster inclusive culture, professional growth, accountability, continuous improvement.
- Fiscal Management & Accountability – oversee budget, forecasting, financial controls, align resources to priorities, achieve revenue and expense targets.
- Philanthropy & Community Engagement – lead annual campaign and philanthropic initiatives, build relationships with donors, volunteers, community partners, strengthen branch presence.
- Volunteer & Board Development – partner with Center Advisory Board and community leaders to cultivate volunteer engagement, board recruitment, governance practices.
- Organizational Leadership – collaborate with Association leadership to implement strategic and operational initiatives, align with standards, model YMCA values.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support YMCA and mission-driven work.
- Mission Advancement – reinforce Y values, communicate benefits, develop volunteers, secure resources.
- Collaboration – build strategic relationships, serve as community leader, provide tools for development.
- Operational Effectiveness – make decisions, involve members, conduct accounting, implement policies, assign accountability.
- Personal Growth – foster learning environment, anticipate challenges, use best practices, demonstrate technical knowledge.
