The Plant Maintenance Manager is responsible for organizing and coordinating maintenance programs at the ion exchange regeneration facility in Memphis, TN. This role involves managing both preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure the facility operates efficiently. The Maintenance Manager will oversee the accurate documentation of all maintenance activities, which include work orders, parts inventory, and parts requisitions.
This is an old plant, and they provide service for industrial applications that require high purity water. They have tanks that are filled with resin that clean water of impurities for the medical device cleaning, laundry detergent and other industries that require high purity water. They have a tank rental exchange with the clients that provide mobile, on site, de-ionization process.
Additionally, the Maintenance Manager will coordinate and perform repairs and installations of mechanical equipment, including pumps, blowers, compressors, piping systems, gauges, flow meters, and other process equipment commonly used in the water and wastewater industry.
This is a day shift role, Monday - Friday from 7:30 to 4 or 5 PM, on call for emergencies and outages. You will have 4 technicians reporting to you across shifts that work from 7:30 AM to 10 PM. This is a very hands on role, you will be spending 60% of your time out on the floor working with, training and mentoring technicians and about 40% of the time in the office doing administrative work.
Furthermore, the Maintenance Manager will assist in managing all site subcontracting activities, including facilitating bid submissions for prospective work, overseeing the contracting process, and supervising subcontractors during their work to ensure compliance and quality.
RequirementsThe following are the primary responsibilities of the position, which are not limited to:
- 5+ yrs experience in industrial or plant maintenance ( water treatment preferred)
- Senior level or department head level maintenance leadership experience
- Coordinate with Engineering and the Operations Manager to achieve plant objectives related to maintenance, design, operation, and procedural improvements.
- Manage the plant maintenance staff effectively.
- Facilitate and maintain accurate maintenance documentation using plant maintenance software.
- Oversee equipment repairs or the selection of replacements for pumps, instruments, controls, and other plant equipment.
- Support efforts to ensure plant operations adhere to environmental and safety protocols cost-effectively.
- Demonstrate self-starting abilities and work efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Maintain effective working relationships with customers, personnel, other client contacts, and staff.
- Manage multiple tasks and adapt quickly and effectively to changing priorities.
- Exhibit proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
- Adhere to established safety procedures and programs.
- Conduct monthly site safety audits.
- Respond to alarms for emergencies at the facility, which may require availability during weekends and off-hours.
