PositionSummary
The Network Administrator supports the school's mission by ensuring reliable, secure, and efficient technology operations that enhance teaching, learning, communication, and administrative effectiveness. This position manages the planning, implementation, maintenance, and security of all IT systems—including network infrastructure, servers, end-user devices, and cloud services—while upholding the school’s Christian philosophy and providing a safe digital environment for students and staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Network and Systems Administration- Install, configure, and maintain the school’s local and wide area networks (LAN/WAN), wireless networks, servers, firewalls, switches, and other related hardware and software systems.
- Administer Microsoft Server environments, Active Directory, and file/print services.
- Manage and monitor server backups and ensure disaster recovery readiness.
- Manage web filters, VPN access, and other network security tools.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation, network diagrams, configuration guides, user manuals, and asset inventories.
- Provide for the planning and implementation of technology to improve teaching, learning, communication, and school management.
- Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all IT systems, including servers, networks, and devices.
- Provide expertise and oversee systems upgrades, installations, conversions, and file maintenance.
- Keep current with emerging technologies and determine which new solutions best meet the school’s operational needs.
- Communicate regularly with the Head of School, administration, and staff regarding technology initiatives, system performance, and updates.
- Maintain cybersecurity protections, including endpoint security, firewall management, and network monitoring.
- Ensure compliance with FERPA, CIPA, and COPPA regulations regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of student and staff data.
- Regularly review and test data backup and recovery procedures.
- Manage cybersecurity tools and respond to any potential security breaches or incidents.
- Provide cybersecurity training and awareness for staff and students.
- Provide general maintenance and troubleshooting for iPads, Chromebooks, Windows laptops, TVs, mirroring systems, projectors, and speakers.
- Oversee and support campus-wide copiers and printers, including procurement and inventory.
- Assist with setup and deployment of new hardware such as Chromebooks, iPads, printers, and other instructional devices.
- Reconfigure Chromebook carts as necessary and maintain device management in Google Admin Console.
- Manage software installations, updates, and licensing compliance.
- Manage and maintain the school’s website, ensuring accurate content, usability, and security.
- Assist with the integration and maintenance of cloud-based platforms such as Microsoft 365 and Google for Education.
- Oversee the RAVE panic button system and other digital safety solutions.
- Assist with Mitel Phone System and Paging as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in network or systems administration, preferably in an educational setting.
- Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Server operating systems and the Microsoft Office suite.
- Extensive knowledge of hardware and software troubleshooting.
- Experience in Google for Education environments.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively and graciously with faculty, staff, and students.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion in all technology-related operations.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
