Job Summary
The Human Resources Consultant 2 manages the day-to-day operations of Human Resources for the College of Dentistry, including employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, training, ERP, and payroll.
Responsibilities- Provides counsel to department heads, directors, and others regarding complex or difficult employee situations.
- Recommends employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer‑employee relationship and to promote a high level of employee morale and motivation.
- Conducts investigations when employee concerns are brought forth and evaluates and implements potential solutions.
- Drafts disciplinary actions in conjunction with Human Resources before delivery, delivers warnings if necessary and follow‑up with supervisors; conducts pre‑termination hearings; provides support to supervisors during performance review processes.
- Provides guidance to employees and supervisors regarding the Family and Medical Leave and Sick Leave Bank processes.
- Oversees the recruitment process including job postings, candidate screenings, interviews, and selection.
- Coordinates onboarding activities for new hires ensuring a smooth transition into the organization.
- Manages applicant tracking system.
- Develops and implements training programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge; conducts training sessions on various HR‑related topics including compliance, diversity, and inclusion.
- Oversees payroll processing and addresses and resolves payroll discrepancies.
- Manages ERP system for HR‑related data entry and reporting.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Education:
Bachelor’s Degree (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED). - Experience:
Three (3) years of experience in human resources. - Knowledge of human resources principles and practices.
- Knowledge of employee relations, recruitment processes, onboarding procedures, training program development, ERP systems, and payroll management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for effectively interacting with employees at all levels and resolving conflicts.
- Ability to analyze complex situations, provide sound advice, and implement effective solutions.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and ensure compliance with university policies and regulations.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
This position may occasionally be required to work weekends and evenings and may require occasional overnight travel.
