Sterile Processing Technician

Overview

The Semmes Murphey Clinic Surgery Center is hiring a sterile processing tech to work in our operating rooms during a variety of surgical procedures. You will work alongside certified scrub techs and operating room staff to ensure supplies and equipment for scheduled procedures are sterilized, assembled, and available. You are a good fit if you like being part of a team that is working hard to deliver excellent patient outcomes.

The Surgery Center is open Monday–Friday. There are no weekends, nights, or on-call requirements. Approximate hours are 6:30am–3:30pm.

• Assemble supplies and equipment for scheduled procedures according to physicians  preference cards, adhering to aseptic technique when opening sterile packages and preparing for the procedure.
• Wash, sterilize, and inspect equipment for proper working condition.
• Accurately label each item with name and expiration date.
• Maintain adequate inventory of supplies for the sterile processing area.
• Check equipment indicators for proper functioning.
• Perform required biological/chemical monitoring tests on all sterilizers and maintain logs according to established policy/procedure.
• Perform weekly inspections of all sterile items in facility.

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a sterile technique program
• One (1) year experience or training in a sterile processing environment

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST)
• Experience working in a fast paced Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) environment
