A Brief Overview
The Dispatcher is responsible for receiving and assigning dispatch requests from departments and supervisors. Responsible for safe transport of patients, dispatch services and appropriate documentation of services. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.
What You Will Do- Receives all telephone calls and radio messages for patient transport and relays information received to appropriate parties.
- Logs calls appropriately as they come in over the computer or by telephone.
- Provides assistance as needed and checks equipment as needed for proper functioning.
- Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors and fellow Associates to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- 1-3 years Customer service
- Healthcare environment
Skills And Abilities
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to operate standard word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment.
- Ability to understand radio communications and to communicate with a variety of individuals clearly and precisely.
- Ability to understand and prepare written materials at a moderate level, such as transportation logs.
- Ability to set priorities, coordinate multiple tasks, and maintain control of work flow.
- This position has no supervisory or lead responsibilities, but will assign transportation duties to the Patient Escorts.
- The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
- Must have good balance and coordination.
- The physical requirements of this position are: light work - exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently.
- The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
- The Associate may be required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned (i.e., custodial, food services, general laborer, etc.) or to make general observations of facilities or structures (i.e., security guard, inspection, etc.).
- Exposure to high levels of noise periodically throughout shift.
- Ability to react quickly in emergency situations.
