Mental Health Technician - MHT

Compass Intervention Center, located in Memphis, TN, is hiring a full‑time, day shift Mental Health Technician (MHT). The MHTs are a vital member of the interdisciplinary team, assisting in total client care through implementation of appropriate therapeutic approaches.

• Provide direct patient care within a multidisciplinary team approach.
• Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment.
• Maintain accurate and complete data and records.
• Intervene with suicidal gestures, inappropriate behaviors, elopements, etc., using proper HWC technique.
• Therapeutically communicate with patients, assist in developing appropriate boundaries, and help develop social skills.
• Direct and redirect behaviors, demonstrating appropriate behavioral consequences; respond appropriately to impulsivity issues as they relate to age‑specific criteria.
• Recognize and communicate the physical and psychological status of the patients under care.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

• Education and Training: High school diploma or equivalent. Preference for a bachelor’s degree or college courses in health care, mental health, recreational therapy, education, or human growth and development.
• Licensure and/or Certification: CPR certification.
• Experience: No minimum required; preference for one year as a nurse's aide, mental health aide, psych aid, or equivalent in a rehabilitation, psychiatric, or similar setting.
• Physical/General: Sustain physical activity and remain on feet throughout scheduled shift; lifting requirement of 50 lbs; SAMA training required.
