Provides day-to-day direction and assistance for OR sterile processing. Coordinates and/or performs daily activities for cleaning, decontamination, packaging, sterilizing and storing of surgical instruments and supplies. Maintains inventory levels and ensures proper care and operation of equipment. Maintains constant vigilance for the maintenance of the sterile field. ** A Brief Overview
** Provides day-to-day direction and assistance for OR sterile processing. Coordinates and/or performs daily activities for cleaning, decontamination, packaging, sterilizing and storing of surgical instruments and supplies. Maintains inventory levels and ensures proper care and operation of equipment. Maintains constant vigilance for the maintenance of the sterile field. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.

** What you will do
*** Provides day-to-day direction and assistance for sterile processing to provide sterile instruments and supplies in accordance with professional standards. Monitors the work of others and serves as a resource for Sterile Processing Techs by answering questions, researching issues, and resolving problems.
* Collaborates with technical staff in organizing daily workflow and patient care. Coordinates scheduling of staff and equipment/supplies as appropriate to meet surgery schedule needs, within budgetary and productivity requirements.
* Assists with on-the-job training, education and in-service programs to ensure a high level of technical skill and compliance with continuing education requirements. Provides input to manager regarding job performance.
* Coordinates the servicing of equipment and instrumentation including routine care and maintenance.
* Performs or oversees activities for the decontamination, assembly, packaging, processing, and sterilization of surgical instruments according to standards.
* Maintains and ensures adherence to the sterile field by applying principles of aseptic techniques in accordance with regulatory guidelines and infection control procedures.
* Effectively manages resources such as supplies and equipment. Plans and completes job responsibilities in an efficient and productive manner.
* Demonstrates professional work behavior and excellent customer service routinely in all interactions.
* Performs other job functions as assigned or requested.  
** Education/Formal Training Requirements*
* * Required - High School Diploma or Equivalent
* Preferred - Technical Degree or Diploma Sterile Processing
* Preferred - Technical Degree or Diploma Surgical Technology  
** Work Experience Requirements*
* * Required - Sterile processing and/or surgical field 3-5 years  
** Licenses and Certifications Requirements*
* * Required - Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician - The Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution
* Preferred - Certified Registered Central Service Technician - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association
