The Tax Manager is responsible for overseeing the firm’s tax operations, managing the preparation and review of complex returns, developing customized tax strategies, and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations. This role combines hands‑on tax expertise with leadership and client advisory responsibilities.

You’ll work closely with the Director of Operations and other senior leaders to streamline processes, elevate service quality, and drive measurable results. The ideal candidate brings a

strategic mindset, exceptional communication skills, and a passion for helping clients minimize tax liability while aligning with their broader financial goals.

Key Responsibilities Tax Preparation & Review
  • Prepare and review complex individual, corporate, partnership, and trust tax returns with precision and timeliness.
  • Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and filing requirements.
  • Oversee workflows to ensure accuracy, quality control, and efficiency across tax engagements.
Tax Planning
  • Develop and implement forward-looking tax strategies tailored to client goals.
  • Provide expert guidance on tax implications of financial decisions, asset management and life transitions.
  • Research evolving tax laws and translate changes into clear recommendations for clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Lead and mentor a team of tax professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, learning, and collaboration.
  • Provide training, development plans, and performance feedback to support team growth.
  • Monitor project timelines and staff workloads to ensure consistent delivery and high-quality output.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • CPA or EA certification (active and in good standing)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in tax preparation and planning
  • Deep understanding of federal and state tax codes and filing requirements
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and leadership skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication, with a client‑first mindset
  • Proficiency in tax software (e.g., Ultra Tax, Pro Connect) and Microsoft Office tools
  • Prior experience managing a tax team or department is preferred
