Assistant Controller

Description

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Controller to join our team in Memphis, Tennessee. In this role, you will oversee key financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across accounting processes. This position requires strong analytical skills and the ability to provide valuable insights to support organizational decision-making.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the organization and its affiliates.

- Manage and maintain the general ledger by accurately recording transactions in a timely manner.

- Perform reconciliations for complex accounts, including bank accounts, investment activity, and intercompany balances.

- Facilitate the annual audit process by preparing necessary schedules and coordinating with external auditors.

- Assist in developing and monitoring budgets for various departments and ministries.

- Conduct financial analyses, create variance reports, and provide forecasting to inform strategic decisions.

- Establish and monitor internal controls to protect organizational assets.

- Ensure compliance with financial policies, diocesan procedures, and applicable regulations.

- Contribute to the development and review of policies and procedures to promote financial best practices.

Requirements - Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or financial management.

- Proficiency in month-end close processes and general ledger maintenance.

- Expertise in preparing and analyzing financial statements.

- Experience with financial statement audits, including coordination with external auditors.

- Knowledge of financial reporting standards and compliance requirements.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to manage complex reconciliations and ensure accuracy in financial data.

- Excellent communication skills to provide guidance and collaborate effectively with stakeholders.
