This high-level technical specialist position is responsible for providing technical assistance to the design engineering function utilizing advanced technical knowledge and skills. With minimal supervision, he/she has a highly developed understanding of a range of relevant design processes, tools, and/or equipment and manages own workload to perform a range of day-to-day design related activities. This position may assist in management of small projects or portion(s) of large projects.
Whatwill you be doing?
- Assists in the definition of design inputs, prototyping, feasibility testing protocols and the concept selection process.
- Creates product concepts/designs for new product development projects and/or product maintenance projects from defined user needs.
- Develop engineering drawings using CAD software to include detailed drawings, assembly drawings, and sub-assembly drawings using information provided from sketches, existing drawings, or 3‑dimensional CAD models.
- Create 3‑dimensional CAD models to support product development and maintenance activities as requested by the engineering function and/or manager.
- Assists engineer with the completion of design verification and validation activities by collaborating with testing partners to develop biomechanical and mechanical test methodologies when consensus testing standards are not applicable.
- Assists engineer in the creation and maintenance of documentation to comply with requirements of SN design control specifications and relevant regulatory bodies.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in design/drafting, art or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school required.
- 2+ years of related design experience.
- Highly developed 3D CAD Modelling/Drafting skills in NX Unigraphics.
- Good written/verbal communication skills.
- Reasoning ability with attention to details.
- Able to understand and verify continuity between various types of documents, revision records and data.
- Knowledge of basic industry‑specific manufacturing and quality inspection methods.
