Manufacturing Engineer Job Description

Design, implement, and sustain processes and systems to enhance safety, quality, and productivity while eliminating waste of time, money, materials, energy, and other resources. Manage, track, and control operations and performance improvement processes.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and distribute engineering data to the manufacturing area to ensure timely and complete information transfer from design engineering to manufacturing technicians.
  • Monitor and provide engineering support to ensure customer products are manufactured efficiently and meet management goals and quality expectations. Analyze deviations and develop corrective actions.
  • Review customer delivery projects for raw materials, indirect materials, and consumables required in manufacturing. Ensure timely ordering and availability of these materials for continuous manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop equipment and tooling justifications, quotation requests, and purchasing documentation. Review quotations, support vendor selections, and ensure equipment meets acceptance criteria and quality expectations.
  • Develop and implement approved improvement projects targeting quality, cost, and delivery performance.
  • Assist production supervisors in troubleshooting process and quality issues. Perform root cause analysis and implement countermeasures based on the PDCA process.
  • Write work instructions and assist in training on work instructions.
  • Develop specifications for new equipment, TPM requirements, and operating work instructions.
  • Support equipment installation, process descriptions, and operational/performance qualification activities for manufacturing equipment and processes. Generate related documentation in compliance with internal requirements.
  • Analyze plant layout and propose improvements for manufacturing flow.
  • Assess and measure labor content to set process standards and evaluate variances.
  • Assist business areas in creating time-based Standard Work for tasks and activities.
  • Collaborate with other departments to develop technical solutions to manufacturing problems.
  • Apply statistical tools to complex problems and teach these tools to others as required.
  • Play a leadership role in the Plant Safety Program.
Essential Skills
  • Experience in CAD, process improvement, and manufacturing engineering.
  • Proficiency in Solid Works, SPC, root cause analysis, industrial engineering, manufacturing processes, and lean manufacturing.
  • Strong background in statistical tools and the ability to lead others in continuous process improvement.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.

Skills & Qualifications
  • 3D design experience and the ability to create drawings.
  • Experience in manufacturing environments, preferably in industrial settings with metal products.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $43.27 - $60.10/hr.
