As a Sr. Packaging Engineer, you'll lead high-impact projects that transform customer insights into breakthrough packaging designs, working backwards from customer needs to deliver exceptional unboxing experiences and product protection.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Packaging Engineer, you will be responsible for working with US and regional teams, closely monitoring and driving packaging engineering initiatives and processes from concept through mass production. You will be an integral part of executing packaging build strategies, including Design For Manufacturing (DFM) innovation, new product development, builds, testing, and launch. You will be a critical escalation path for packaging process issues and work closely with China and US leadership teams to ensure cross‑functional collaboration is effective.
The Packaging Engineering team works closely with Design, Global Commodity Management, Supplier Quality Management, and Operations teams in the US and China throughout the design cycle. They are responsible for helping to drive the development of packaging part manufacturing and processes towards Marketing and t. They are also responsible for participating in early engagement design recommendations, driving detailed engineering studies, and continuously driving towards yield and cycle time targets ahead of mass production.

- Design, analyze, and document consumer-facing packaging components and assemblies that delight consumers. Redefine what sustainable packaging can be.
- Conduct tests and engineering studies to validate the robustness and proper performance of new packaging. Identify and reduce packaging risks.
- Review and develop process, automation opportunities, and fixtures with contract manufacturers and packaging suppliers.
- Bring clarity, and simplicity to complexity, probe assumptions, illuminate pitfalls, and foster shared understanding of packages and their related processes.
- Travel domestically and internationally to supplier sites to collaborate with staff and keep teams moving.
The team is nimble with 10 other engineers across the San Francisco Bay Area and Shenzhen. We operate with strong trust and support to design and execute an impressive work load.
Basic Qualifications- Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures
- Bachelor's degree in Packaging / mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 8+ years of professional experience in the high-volume consumer electronics industry.
- Experience working with onsite manufacturers and suppliers.
- Excellent oral and written communication.
- Knowledge and experience in any of following packaging fields: corrugated and paperboard packaging design, molded pulp packaging, packaging adhesives, protective films, packaging process and fixture development, paper printing decoration and treatments
- Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent
- Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production
- Experience with the project management of technical projects
