Job description:Job Summary
The Safety Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining site safety programs to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. This role promotes safety awareness, supports continuous improvement, and works closely with the Safety & Environmental Manager to maintain compliance with safety and environmental regulations at an excellence level.
PrimaryDuties & Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain comprehensive Site Safety programs.
- Coordinate and participate in internal and external safety audits.
- Research, recommend, and draft policies to ensure compliance with 29 CFR 1910 regulations.
- Review and recommend improvements to the site’s safety management systems.
- Develop, maintain, and conduct drills for Emergency Response programs.
- Represent the site in interactions with state and federal agencies and industry groups on safety and security-related matters.
- Lead and/or participate in safety committees.
- Serve as a liaison with the Workers’ Compensation carrier on safety-related matters.
- Collaborate with the Safety & Environmental Manager and HR Manager to support the site’s Security Program.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED required;
Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Science, or related field preferred. - 2–4 years of experience in safety, environmental, or compliance-related roles.
- Experience in manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial environments strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of OSHA regulations, particularly 29 CFR 1910
. - Experience with safety audits, emergency response planning, and safety management systems.
- Ability to develop and deliver safety training and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to maintain professionalism while representing the company with regulatory agencies and external groups.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety-related software (preferred).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety excellence.
- Ability to respond to emergencies and conduct onsite drills as needed.
- Must pass background check and pre‑employment screening.
