E. Scheidt School of Music – Main Campus (Memphis, TN)
Join the University of Memphis as a visionary academic and artistic leader for a highly regarded music school that offers undergraduate to doctoral programs and hosts over 400 performances annually.

Position Responsibilities
  • Serve as the academic and artistic leader of the School, guiding curriculum development, faculty initiatives, and student success strategies.
  • Advance interdisciplinary collaboration across the College of Communication and Fine Arts and the broader university community.
  • Promote innovative teaching and performance practices that reflect current trends in music education.
  • Build and sustain relationships with community partners, donors, alumni, and professional arts organizations.
  • Work closely with the Dean of the College to enhance the School’s national and international profile while maintaining the highest standards of artistic and academic excellence.
Compensation and Benefits

Competitive salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. Minimum Position Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in music or a related field.
  • Record of creative, scholarly, and administrative achievement appropriate for appointment as a full professor.
  • Experience in faculty development, student mentorship, fiscal management, and fundraising.
  • Demonstrated visionary leadership, strong communication skills, and a deep commitment to supporting both tradition and innovation in music education.
