Memphis‑Shelby County Schools invites applications for the Special Education Assistant – Lucie

E. Campbell Elementary position. This role focuses on assisting special education teachers with students who have disabilities.

• Assisting special education teachers in the instruction and supervision of activities for students with disabilities to provide a well‑organized, smoothly functioning classroom environment.
• Assisting assigned teachers in preparing instructional materials.
• Preparing classrooms for activities.
• Supervising and assisting children in the classroom and in other areas of the school.
• Reinforcing classroom lessons.
• Providing other assistance as requested.
• Assisting special‑needs students or coordinating special projects and programs as assigned.
• Working under direct supervision according to set procedures.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate’s Degree, or two (2) years of college (minimum votes of 48 semester hours), or a passing score on the Para Pro Assessment(mapping), and one (1) year of experience working with children in an educational setting is preferred. Must possess or be able to obtain certification in CPR and First Aid. (PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED)

• Bachelor’s Degree = 4 years plus required years of experience.
• Master’s Degree = 6 years plus required years of experience.
