REPORTS TO: School Director
POSITION: The Land Academy Elementary School, Full-time regular exempt
MISSION: To engage students in project-based learning, expose them to real world experiences, and equip them for academic excellence.

As a K-2 Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in creating a nurturing and stimulating learning environment where young learners can develop academically, socially, and emotionally while instilling essential values and character traits.
Job DescriptionThe Classroom Teacher has the primary responsibility for providing direct service to students, consulting with other professionals, and consulting and discussing issues with parents. The teacher plans, delivers, and evaluates instructional outcomes and conducts the research needed to perform the essential functions of the position.

- Curriculum Development: Design and implement a project-based learning curriculum that integrates values and character education into daily activities and lessons.
- Create engaging and developmentally appropriate learning experiences that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Instruction and Assessment: Facilitate interactive and hands-on learning experiences that encourage exploration, creativity, and critical thinking skills development.
- Assess student progress regularly through various formative and summative assessment methods, providing constructive feedback to students and parents/guardians.
- Classroom Management: Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, cooperation, and empathy among students.
- Establish clear expectations for behavior and implement effective strategies to manage classroom dynamics and promote positive social interactions.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with fellow teachers, administrators, and support staff to align curriculum objectives, share resources, and foster a cohesive school community.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians, providing regular updates on student progress, challenges, and achievements.
- Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practices, stay abreast of current educational trends, and deepen understanding of values and character education principles.
- Values and Character Education Integration: Infuse values such as respect, responsibility, honesty, empathy, and perseverance into daily interactions and instruction.
- Model positive character traits and serve as a role model for students, guiding them in understanding the importance of ethical behavior and integrity.
- The belief that our mission can and will be accomplished.
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Valid TN teaching certification/license (Early Childhood Education endorsement preferred).
- Proven experience working with young children, particularly in a project-based or experiential learning environment.
- Strong understanding of values and character education principles and their integration into curriculum and instruction.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, creativity, and a genuine passion for working with young learners.
