Summary
Plan,direct,implement programs,policiesandproceduresforthe
Department of Biomedical Sciences that ensures the integration of scientifically based, outcome evaluated clinical knowledge and skills, biomedical sciences, and osteopathic principles and practices for predoctoral and/or postdoctoral students, provide service to the university and professional communities and engage in innovative scholarship and research to advance medical knowledge.
Principal Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
- Provideoversightanddirectionforthe Department of Biomedical Sciencesfacultyandstaffin planning, developing and implementing the College’s curriculum
- Collaboratewithclinicalservicestobestalignbiomedicalcurriculumwithcurrentorevolving clinical services.
- Provide oversight and direction for the education and instruction of medical students and other healthcareprofessionstudentswhileprovidingmentorshipandmotivationforlearning,research and scholarly activity in classroom environments, clinical settings, active learning groups, laboratory experience and research opportunities.
- Superviseandevaluatetheperformanceofthe Department of Biomedical Sciencesfacultyand staff annually or as indicated by policy, report evaluations to the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, make recommendations for discipline, promotion and recognition of faculty and developacultureofexcellence,continuousimprovementandadvancementforeachofthefaculty members.
- Demonstrateandrolemodelanongoingabilitytoworkcooperativelywithcolleagues,supervisors and support staff.
- Plan, develop, and manage the Department of Biomedical Sciences budget to allow the departmenttoimplementeducationalprogramsforthe
COM,ensureeffectiveandefficient operational functions and procedures consistent with established college policies. - Demonstrate adaptability and the willingness to assist the university and college in fulfilling its missionandvisionthoughteaching,academicadministrativeduties(course/system coordinator), providing patient care, and community service and/or perform special duties as assigned.
- Advancetheprestigeofthe University and Collegethroughadvancementofandavocationforits mission and vision.
Qualifications
Education
Minimum:
Terminal degree(Doctorof Osteopathic Medicine ,Medical Doctor,PhD,EdD)
Experience
Minimum:
Aminimumoffive(5) yearsexperienceinteachingandacademicleadershipinamedicaleducation setting. Demonstratedleadershipandproductivityintheareasofclinicalorprofessionalservice,scholarly activity, medical research or education.
Desired:
Seven years(7) academicexperienceasafulltimefacultymemberata
Collegeof Osteopathic Medicine or seven years (7) experience as a full time faculty member in a Graduate Medical Education program. Demonstrated leadership,productivityandadministrativeexperienceinclinical,professional,researchor educational settings.
Licensure, Registration, Certification
Minimum:
Goodstandingwithallregulatoryandgovernmentalboardsandagencies. Eligible for coverage by college’s malpractice insurer if applicable. Physiciansmusthavewithcurrent Board Certification by AOAor ABMS. Physiciansmusthaveanactivemedicallicense.
