This is a part-time Adjunct Faculty position in the Social and Behavioral Sciences Department at Southwest Tennessee Community College. This posting is not a guarantee of an open position. Applications for part-time faculty are reviewed by the department chair when openings become available; future teaching assignments can be fall, spring, or summer and are on a term-by-term basis. Postings close yearly on January 31;

This is a part-time position in the Social and Behavioral Sciences Department. The Adjunct Instructor is responsible for the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities. Duties may occur day, evening, or weekend on any Southwest Tennessee Community College campus.
At a minimum, related activities include instruction, academic advising, serving on committees, and participation in professional activities and organizations.
Responsibilities- Prepares and delivers instruction on topics of athletic training, first aid, and safety.
- Compiles, administers, evaluates, and grades class work, laboratory work, assignments, tests, and papers; provides timely progress feedback.
- Develops curricula and instructional materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.
- Maintains office hours for student advising; assists in recruitment and retention; supports students with course-related issues outside of class.
- Maintains accurate attendance records, grades, and other required records in compliance with FERPA.
- Attends faculty meetings, college assemblies, professional development, and other meetings as required.
- Keeps current with developments in the field by reading literature, networking with colleagues, and engaging in professional activities.
- Participates in departmental and college committees and provides outreach service to the community.
- May perform other duties as assigned by the Department Head/Dean.
- Master’s degree in the teaching discipline or a master’s degree in another discipline with 18 hours of graduate work in the teaching discipline.
- Minimum two (2) years of teaching experience in higher education, or one (1) year teaching experience and three (3) years employed in the field.
- Knowledge of current teaching and learning strategies to facilitate student-centered learning; experience with a diverse student population.
- Skill in selecting and using instructional methods appropriate for the subject and students.
- Ability to integrate technology into course delivery.
- Ability to communicate information clearly in writing.
- Willingness and flexibility to teach classes using various instructional delivery methods at any of the six locations.
