Summary

This is a ranked faculty position in the College of Osteopathic Medicine. Each physician faculty member will have duties as assigned in the domains of teaching, research & scholarly activity, service, administration, and clinical practice. Candidates for the level of full professor will need a demonstrated record of excellence in both academic and clinical domains over time.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in teaching, scholarly activities, and service in the Osteopathic School of Medicine to produce competent and holistic physicians.
  • Participate in and/or direct multidisciplinary curricular courses and assessments of learners, including clinical courses during the third and fourth years of the osteopathic medical curriculum.
  • Mentor junior faculty in developing instructional experiences aligning with the mission and goals of the College and University.
  • Partner with College leadership to assess educational outcomes and utilize data for quality improvement of instruction and curriculum.
  • This is a full-time, non-tenure track, exempt position under the administrative direction of the Department Chair and Senior Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs.
  • May occasionally require hours beyond a standard 8-hour workday.
  • Distribution of time among teaching, research & scholarly activity, service, administration, and clinical practice will be negotiated annually based on faculty goals, college needs, and accreditation standards.
Requirements, Preferences, and Experience
  • DO or MD degree with AOA or ABMS board certification or eligibility in the designated clinical field, or a terminal degree in a related or appropriate academic area from an accredited institution, with teaching experience.
  • Commitment to support the mission and vision of Baptist Health Sciences University.
  • Proficiency with computer applications such as Microsoft Office 365.
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, and bend intermittently in a university environment.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check.
  • Unrestricted certification/licensure to teach/practice in Tennessee; ability to obtain an active medical license where clinical activities occur.
  • Evidence of a national and/or international reputation in the field.
  • Minimum of five years at the academic rank of Associate Professor or equivalent.
  • Robust research portfolio or peer-reviewed publications.
  • Track record of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and research.
  • Participation in professional and community organizations.
