Graphic Design Teaching Artist

Job Responsibilities

• Plan and facilitate a weekly 2‑hour graphic design class for girls
• Teach foundational graphic design concepts, including layout, color, typography, and visual storytelling
• Guide students through individual and/or group creative projects
• Connect graphic design skills to real‑world uses such as branding, music, merch, and social media
• Create a supportive, encouraging, and age appropriate learning environment
• Communicate with Angel Street staff regarding lesson plans, attendance, and student engagement
• Participate in brief program check‑ins as needed
• Maintain attendance records and provide light feedback on student participation

• Experience as a graphic designer (professional or freelance)
• Proficiency in design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar platforms
• Experience working with youth preferred (teaching, mentoring, facilitation, or coaching)
• Ability to explain creative concepts clearly and engagingly
• Reliable, organized, and able to commit to the full 8–12 week program
• Alignment with Angel Street’s mission and commitment to serving girls in under‑resourced communities
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Position may require occasionally lifting objects of 10-25 pounds
  Position may require occasional driving
  Strong preference for those with a youth development or recreation background
• This is an independent contractor position, paid at a weekly rate
• Position requires availability during after-school hours (4:00–6:00 PM)
• Preparation time outside of class is expected and included in weekly rate
