Job Description
Entry‑Level Field Technician – Construction Materials Testing – Memphis, Tennessee. Professional Service Industries, Inc. (Intertek‑PSI) is searching for a Field CMT Technician to join our Building & Construction team in our Memphis, TN office. Whatyou’ll do
- Perform a variety of testing, project‑specific observations, and site assessment duties under direct supervision and/or from detailed controlled procedures.
- Operate testing equipment and conduct testing (e.g., soil, concrete, or other) and provide assessment of data through reporting.
- Work utilizing drawings, specifications, and diagrams.
- Use specific methods to observe site activities and perform tasks.
- Make detailed observations and give limited interpretation of results.
- Maintain detailed documentation and data from test results.
- Operate a calculator to calculate mathematical test results.
- Communicate effectively with client and project teams.
- Adhere to safety practices and policies to ensure your own safety and the safety of others.
- Effective communication skills (written, verbal, and listening) and solid interpersonal skills.
- External (or task‑related) certifications based on region and state may be required.
- Basic math, calculator, and computer skills.
- Ability to read and understand work plans.
- Must be able to work off‑shift and overtime as needed.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record.
- Ability to lift, move, push, and pull up to 50 pounds if needed; occasionally more with assistance.
- Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication (hearing) and discern sound distinctions.
- Ability to kneel and squat occasionally.
- Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (hot and cold).
- Ability to climb occasionally.
- High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
- Experience performing field and/or construction materials testing and/or inspections is preferred.
- No experience required – we offer in‑house training!
- ACI/ICC/TDOT certifications are highly preferred.
