Project Engineer, Site Manager

This position supports the growing aggregate, material, and paving businesses within the Granite Companies of Memphis Stone & Gravel, Lehman-Roberts, and Dickerson & Bowen. The role is based in Memphis, Tennessee, and involves assisting Project Managers in preconstruction and project execution, with a focus on administration.

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Track subcontractors daily on-site, including crew sizes, completed quantities, and required submittals.
• Coordinate scheduling, materials, and project deliverables with subcontractor representatives.
• Supervise subcontractor work to ensure compliance with specifications and verify billing accuracy.
• Coordinate with DOT inspectors for testing requirements and certifications.

• Monitor daily completed quantities and incidental items.
• Assist foremen with layout and daily production planning, including paving operations.
• Maintain roadway centerline layout and adjust as needed.
• Perform and oversee project administration duties.

• Serve as Traffic Control Supervisor, ensuring compliance with setup and MUTCD standards.
• Conduct traffic control inspections and address deficiencies.

Physical Demands

The physical demands include regularly talking and hearing, standing, walking, sitting for long periods, performing strenuous labor, climbing on and off equipment, lifting up to 50 pounds, and performing tasks like digging and material handling. Vision requirements include close focus and focus adjustment. Safe work practices must be followed at all times.

Education

• High School Diploma or GED required;
  Civil Engineering degree preferred.

Work Experience

• 0-2+ years of construction materials field experience preferred.
