RoleWe are seeking a Demand Planner Specialist to work closely with customers to manage case‑ready meat delivery. The role involves logistics, procurement, inventory, and accounting functions, requiring excellent organization and communication skills. The specialist will gather, validate, and interpret relevant data to maintain an accurate demand schedule.
Responsibilities- Source, procure, and purchase raw materials.
- Commit inventory against sales orders.
- Review expiration reports to ensure FIFO consumption of raw materials.
- Ensure finished products are shipped using FIFO and manage excess product.
- Receive orders, check accuracy, commit to inventory, and promise delivery dates based on material availability, customer needs, and production schedules.
- Manage supplier costs and procurement system billing.
- Maintain inventory levels to support shelf‑life expectations and product freshness.
- Create product bid sheets based on buyer projections.
- Handle demand exceptions (compliance issues, forecast bias, anomalies).
- Improve demand schedule accuracy by leveraging production efficiencies and aligning production with buyer adjustments.
- Support supply/production planning by prioritizing inventory needs, new item forecasts, product phase‑outs, and special builds.
- Establish production plans and priorities based on customer requirements.
- Coordinate logistics from case‑ready facilities to distribution centers.
- Track supply‑chain KPIs (inventory turns, fill rates, inventory days, cost variances).
- Maintain and update demand forecast dates.
- Use ERP and other tools for forecast analysis, trend tracking, and proactive decisions.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to communicate facility‑impacting activities.
- Coordinate order changes in scheduling, shipping, and receiving.
- Resolve daily material rejections and production changes due to equipment breakdowns.
- Excellent computer skills.

- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in supply chain, operations, or logistics.
- Effective communication with management at all levels and customer focus.
- Attention to detail, strong problem‑solving, and critical thinking.
- Ability to multi‑task, work well under pressure, and be flexible with schedules.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Access (A MUST
). - Experience with Materials Requirement Planning (MRP).
- Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tools.
The role is predominantly sedentary with occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 100 pounds. The work environment is mainly in an office setting, with periods spent in a wet, damp, and cold production plant environment. Noise levels are moderate to loud during production operations.
