The Medical Administrative Assistant 1 provides administrative support for the front office. This position supports staff for front desk operations for Knox Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic.

Job Summary / Essential Job Functions

JOB SUMMARY/

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The Medical Administrative Assistant 1 provides administrative support for the front office. This position supports staff for front desk operations for Knox Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic.

Responsibilities
  • Schedules patient appointments (check-in, check-out) and maintains calendars.
  • Reviews insurance eligibility, as needed.
  • Communicates with providers regarding patient appointments and other patient communication.
  • Processes new patient forms and requests previous records, as necessary.
  • Creates appointments in EMR for multiple providers’ schedules.
  • Answers and routes phone calls from patients and other providers.
  • Collects co-pays and cash payments; uses credit card terminal following PCI rules.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

EXPERIENCE: Six (6) months of work experience in a medical office setting. (Ability to fluently speak Spanish is preferred).

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Ability to communicate both on the telephone and in person.
  • Attention to detail and ability to learn new skills.
  • Computer literacy including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability and knowledge about Zoom applications for the telehealth needs of the clinic.
Work Schedule

This position may occasionally be required to work evenings and weekends.
