Lead Software Engineer - Data Platform Engineering; Hybrid

Job Description

We’re seeking a hands‑on Lead Software Engineer to help build the future of our data infrastructure. In this role, you’ll architect and develop green‑field services while evolving our existing platform into a best‑in‑class data solution that powers analytics, ML, and business intelligence across the organization. You will lead team members, provide direct input to the overall engineering process, and coordinate within a team environment to work on various aspects of the platform and products, fostering collaboration to solve problems, design sophisticated solutions, and increase product quality.

Your work will split between writing code, making architectural decisions, and mentoring the team, all while solving complex problems around data ingestion, processing, storage, and access s is a rare opportunity to shape critical infrastructure from the ground up.

• Lead the design and development of solutions to various problems, either independently or with a team, ensuring efficient, reliable code.
• Guide the creation of technical documents such as design specifications.
• Ensure applications perform at high capacity, responsiveness, and quality.
• Develop solutions to reduce issues and defects.
• Maintain that the platform’s code and data are organized, automated, and of high quality.
• Guide junior team personnel by recommending best practices in software design and development.
• Contribute to the development of functional objectives and principles, achieving goals in innovative ways across a range of scopes and complexities.

• Bachelor’s Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• 5–7 years of relevant experience with progressive leadership demonstrated.

• Extensive Google Cloud Platform experience.
• Previous experience as a Data Platform Engineer for a large organization.
• Experience with Python (FastAPI) and Next.js.
• Experience with infrastructure as code, specifically Terraform.
• Experience building and operating GKE.
• Experience with Airflow, DBT, and/or Dataform.
• Experience with Open Lineage, Open Metadata, and data contracts.
