Position Summary

Site Sales Consultant (SSC) is a key part of driving MSC’s Public Sector market position. The SSC will be assigned a portfolio of $1M -$2M in annual revenue with a focus on growing Public Sector sales within designated territory. The SSC will manage and maintain customer relationships at ship to level with established and assigned Public Sector customers across designated territory.

Duties

and Responsibilities
  • Associate focused on strategic Public Sector Opportunities and Accounts to drive growth.
  • Drives sales at assigned Public Sector site locations and customer facilities within their assigned regions.
  • Prepares and delivers sales presentations that address customers’ needs and drive sales growth.
  • Engages customers by linking business priorities to MSC’s value proposition.
  • Leverages stakeholder knowledge to create a distinct strategy for engaging key stakeholders.
  • Develops relationships with key Public Sector agencies and maps out customer decision‑making processes.
  • Gathers, organizes, and analyzes information to create a business plan of growth.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Public Sector customers and current market climate.
  • Qualifies and quantifies the impact of maintaining the status quo or pursuing competitors’ solutions.
  • Drives momentum by rallying internal resources and coaching customers through the buying process.
  • Utilizes best practices to align stakeholders and drive consensus.
  • Identifies and arms the mobilizer with toolkit to sell solutions throughout organization.
  • Researches industry trends and becomes a trusted advisor on the industries served by customers.
  • Maintains relationships with contacts across functional departments in each account.
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts to deliver expertise and value relevant to specific categories of products and solutions.
  • Delivers cost‑savings documentation on a scheduled cadence.
  • Accurately manages content in funnel, win/loss, launch status,  and other platforms.
  • Completes professional development training in a timely manner.
  • Fosters MSC culture, unity of purpose and fulfillment of MSC’s mission.
  • Supports new initiatives and programs to meet customer needs.
  • Participates in special projects and cross‑functional teams.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, industrial distribution or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of public sector sales experience.
  • Knowledge of compliance requirements and continuous education on industry and market events.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and
Bonus Points
  • Willingness to travel up to several hours per day within assigned territory.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physical activity such as pushing, pulling, bending, and climbing as required.
  • Knowledge of ITAR and/or CUI as needed for this position.

Compensation

Salary range: $62,930 – $98,890+, depending on experience. Compensation is based on relevant experience, education, and peer pay equity.
