Legal Secretary, Litigation
Prominent full-service nationwide law firm with over 40 years of experience representing survivors of catastrophic and traumatic events is seeking a Litigation Paralegal to join their team. Candidates must be comfortable working with sexual abuse and assault cases, experience as a social worker or with trauma-related victims is a plus. Ideal Candidates will have experience with negligence and personal injury cases.
Experience reviewing medical records or working in a fast paced environment is a plus. Must be reliable, professional and able to work as part of our close-knit team and to interact with clients. This position is onsite at the firm’s Melville, NY office.
Responsibilities include:
- Communicating with clients
- Drafting and preparing memorandums of client interviews
- Drafting and preparing correspondences and medical record authorizations
- Obtaining and exchanging medical records
- Court filings
- Other administrative duties as needed
Qualifications:
- Must have 3+ years of experience with negligence and personal injury cases
- Paralegal Certification preferred, bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
- Must be comfortable working with sexual abuse and assault cases, experience as a social worker or with trauma-related victims is a plus
- Experience reviewing medical records or working in a fast paced environment is preferred
- Must have superior verbal and written communication skills
- Must be detail oriented and have excellent organizational skills
- Must be compassionate to the needs of clients
- Must live within a 30-45 minute drive from the Melville, NY office
