Our Melville office is seeking a motivated Assistant Civil Engineer to join our team working on diverse public and private infrastructure projects for Long Island and Hudson Valley municipalities and State agencies.
We are seeking an Assistant Civil Engineer who will work on infrastructure design projects at our office in Melville, Suffolk County, NY. NV5's Melville Office operates on a four-day work week.
The Assistant Civil Engineer will work as part of a team of design professionals including Landscape Architects, Civil Engineers, Structural Engineers, and Traffic Engineers to prepare plans and specifications for various municipal projects throughout Long Island and the Hudson Valley. Projects include roadway and highway reconstruction, bicycle paths and trails, downtown streetscapes, suburban parks and recreational facilities, traffic signal design, green infrastructure, pavement markings and signage, and construction administration and inspection.
Responsibilities
The Assistant Civil Engineer will:
* Geometric design of corridor, intersections, sidewalks, and ADA-compliant elements
* Drainage system design and private utility coordination
* Utility conflict identification, resolution, and relocation coordination
* Grading, drainage, pavement markings, and signage
* Signals and street lighting system design
* Maintenance and Protection of Traffic (MPT) / construction staging
* Preparation of construction documents, cost estimates, and specifications
* Coordination with NYSDOT, Nassau /Suffolk Counties, and various Towns, Villages, Private and Utility companies.
* Participation in public outreach and client/agency presentations
* Field work includes data collection, surveys, and construction inspection
* Construction support, including RFI responses, submittal reviews, and change order evaluations
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college
* Proficiency in AutoCAD (Civil 3D experience a plus)
* Detail-oriented with excellent communication and technical writing skills
* EIT certification preferred (but not required)
* 0-4 years experience
Certifications/Licenses:
* Engineer-in-Training certificate a plus
* Working towards professional engineering license

Compensation: $75,000.00 to $85,000.00 per year
The pay range for this position in Melville, NY is $75,000-$85,000 per year, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications. In addition, we offer restricted stock units, a full benefits package (medical, dental, life insurance, 401(k), PTO), and strong professional development opportunities.
