- Specifically, this role will make sustained contributions resulting in new or improved formulations and products to support brand growth.
- Supports senior members of the team by helping drive projects forward in collaboration with Product Development.
- Responsible for the development of calendarized products and modifications of existing skincare products with minimal supervision.
- Recognizes and shares new approaches/observations that could help drive innovations.
- Performs assignments with minimal supervision.
- Actively develops commercially feasible new skincare products or modifies existing ones.
- Designs and conducts experiments requiring the selection of equipment and materials for the delivery of the project. Makes constructive contributions to product formulation.
- Determines stability of the formulation and ensures commercial feasibility.
- Follows projects from prototype development through manufacturing. Contributes in establishing manufacturing procedures.
- Assures that all testing to guarantee a marketable final product is on schedule. Precisely measures product characteristics and makes timely recordings of the results.
- Establishes standards and submits batch cards to lab management for review.
- Keeps laboratory management and key project members informed of progress.
- Identifies technical learnings, issues and solutions for all projects, provides suggestions on all experiments and technicalities.
- Assists in resolving product or process problems.
- Stays abreast of developing trends in the cosmetic field; builds depth of understanding and shares new approaches with the team.
- Interfaces with all R&D departments, OA, Technical Services, Manufacturing and NY Products Department.
- BS degree in relevant scientific field, Chemistry preferred.
- 2-4 years of experience
- 10% travel time
- Required knowledge of Word and Excel
- Knowledge of R&D System RDS preferred
- Ability to work in the lab. Standing at lab bench, wearing required PPE, comfortable working around mixers, homogenizers, hot water baths, and cosmetic raw materials. The formulator should be able to evaluate skin care products on hand and face.
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $66,300.00 to $93,250.00. Exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. Salary range may vary based on geographic location. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program with the possibility for over achievement based on performance and company results.
