AECOM is seeking a Civil Highway Project Inspector to support highway‑related Construction Management projects in Suffolk County. In this role, you will assist with field inspections, monitor construction activities, and help ensure all work is performed in accordance with project plans, specifications, and safety standards. This position offers the opportunity to work on impactful transportation projects while gaining valuable experience within a leading engineering and construction services team.

• Monitoring conformance to quality, performance, specifications, and code requirements by performing thorough inspection duties
• Conducting daily field inspections of highway construction sites and maintaining detailed inspection records
• Participating in creating and resolving punch lists and tracking quality assurance progress
• Verifying that construction activities comply with project plans, specifications, and applicable building codes
• Coordinating with contractors, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure project timelines and quality standards are met
• Reviewing and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents
• Identifying potential issues or conflicts in the field and reporting them to the project manager in a timely manner
• Documenting construction progress through written reports, photographs, and other means as required
• Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and procedures on the construction site
• Attending project meetings and providing updates on inspection findings and construction progress
• Assisting in the review and approval of material submittals and shop drawings
• Performing or overseeing materials testing as needed to ensure quality standards are met
• Maintaining accurate and up‑to‑date project files, including daily reports, test results, and correspondence
• Collaborating with design teams to address field issues and implement necessary design changes
• Participating in final inspections and project close‑out activities to ensure all work meets required standards

• High School Diploma plus 8 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
• U.S. Citizenship required due to project sensitivity
• Highway/Bridge experience

• Excellent written communication and presentation abilities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CEES, EBO software, MURK, Federal Aid policies and procedures, and the NYS LPM (formerly PLAFAP) Manual
• Ability to perform Office Engineer type functions in addition to Civil Field Inspection duties

Compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The hourly range for this position is $45 to $76.
