Project Accountant

A well-established AEC organization supporting large-scale architectural, engineering, and construction projects across the Northeast is seeking a Project Accountant to join its growing finance team. The firm supports complex, multi-disciplinary projects in transportation, infrastructure, commercial, and public sector environments and offers long-term stability with continued growth.

This role sits at the intersection of finance and project operations. The Project Accountant will partner closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and Operations leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting, project performance tracking, and contract compliance.

• Maintain project financials including job cost, WIP, and revenue recognition
• Prepare and analyze budget vs. actual reports and project margin trends
• Support percentage-of-completion accounting and forecast updates
• Process and review progress billings, AIA billing, and contract adjustments
• Track labor, consultant, subcontractor, and expense allocations
• Monitor change orders, commitments, and cost-to-complete
• Partner with project teams to improve financial visibility and controls
• Support month-end close and project-level reporting
• Assist with audits and compliance requirements
• Maintain accurate data within ERP and project accounting systems

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 2+ years of project or construction accounting experience
• Background in Architecture, Engineering or Construction preferred
• Strong understanding of job costing, WIP, and revenue recognition
• Experience with AEC ERP systems preferred
• Advanced Excel skills
• Strong communication and ability to work with non-finance project teams
