Melrose Public Works is a fast-paced, service-driven department with varied and evolving priorities. We are seeking an experienced and adaptable City Engineer who thrives in a dynamic municipal environment. The successful candidate will effectively manage in-house staff and outside consultants, maintain strong public relations, and communicate professionally and diplomatically with residents, elected officials, businesses, and state and federal agencies.
Responsibilities- Lead the Engineering Division under the Director of Public Works in a team-oriented setting.
- Oversee the planning, design, and construction of roadway and utility infrastructure projects.
- Manage grants, contracts, vendors, and personnel; serve as the City’s liaison to boards and commissions.
- Support short- and long-range planning initiatives.
- Massachusetts Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- 5–7 years of municipal experience and 12–15 years of professional engineering experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and GIS systems.
The salary range is $–$124,176 annually, commensurate with experience.
