As from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.

Macmillan Lung Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist

Permanent: 22.5hrs (shared job). 22.5hr/wk will continue after April 2025

Band 7

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, motivated registered nurse to join the Macmillan Lung Cancer Nursing Service. The post is based within Borders Macmillan Centre, Borders General Hospital, where opportunities for continuing professional development are supported.

Working autonomously and utilising clinical expertise, the post holder will facilitate multidisciplinary working across professional boundaries in health and social care settings by providing a person-centred nurse led service; through investigation, diagnosis and treatment, supporting anticipatory care planning and bereavement as appropriate.

The ability to work independently and facilitate respectful team working across local and regional professional boundaries is essential. This includes representation and participation in weekly lung cancer multi-disciplinary team meetings and periodic South East Scotland Regional meetings.

Educated to or working towards Masters level qualification, with recent experience at Band 6 or above in a relevant clinical setting, the post holder will have excellent communication, analytical and organisational skills. The ability to work flexibly and cover annual leave, and absence on occasion is required.
