Endoscopy Nurse

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join the Endoscopy team at BGH for 12 months. Applicants should be enthusiastic, motivated and have an interest in working in the endoscopy environment.

The post entails assessment of patients and delivering excellent nursing care through admission to discharge. Provision of care is for day case and in-patient endoscopic procedures. You will be supported in learning new skills to assist Medical and Nurse Endoscopists within the Scope rooms. The successful candidates will be fully supported in their professional development, working alongside an experienced team. Previous experience in this area is advantageous but all applications will be considered.

The service currently operates a 5-day week with a shift pattern covering Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm.

• Assess patients and deliver nursing care through admission to discharge for day case and in-patient endoscopic procedures.
• Support learning new skills to assist Medical and Nurse Endoscopists within the Scope rooms.
• Be flexible to work within the service as required.
• Work within the 5-day week pattern (Monday to Friday, 8am–6pm).

• Band 5 Staff Nurse or equivalent; enthusiasm and motivation; interest in endoscopy.
• Previous experience in endoscopy is advantageous but all applications will be considered.
• Internal NHS Scotland staff only; internal vacancy.

As from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will reduce from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part-time hours will be reduced pro-rata, with a corresponding increase in hourly rate so that pay is not affected.

Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check. If the post is assessed as a "regulated role", appointment will be subject to joining the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. If there is any change to what is currently required, this will be confirmed by the Hiring Manager or Recruitment Team.
