As from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will be reduced from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part‑time hours will be reduced pro‑rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.

This post offers an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified or more experienced Band 5 Dietitian wishing to work within Community, Acute, Paediatric and Weight Management Dietetic services, developing within workflows that expand clinical specialities. We are looking for a dietitian with clinical expertise and excellent communication and motivation skills. The post will be a rotational post within the Community, Acute, Paediatric and Weight Management teams, initially in the Community team.

The community rotation will involve working alongside our Band 6 community dietetics team and dietetic support worker, supporting individuals and groups, and requires travelling to cover outpatient clinics, domiciliary visits and care homes across NHS Borders community.

The acute rotation is based at Borders General Hospital, working closely with our Band 6 dietitians and the Dietetic Support Worker to deliver dietetic services to individuals and in group settings. Clinical areas will include general medicine, stroke, renal, general surgery and ITU.

The Paediatric/Weight Management post is based at Borders General Hospital and in community clinic settings. You will work closely with weight‑management dietitians to deliver Tier 3 weight management to individuals and in group settings. The paediatric clinical work will involve working with our existing Band 7 and Band 6 dietitians, both in an acute and community setting.

The post holder will be supported to complete the Flying Start programme. Supervision and support will be provided to enable you to play an active part in the department and develop your clinical skills. You will join a well‑respected team of dietitians with a commitment to staff development, quality improvement and clinical excellence. The department has good IT facilities and utilises online patient management systems.

The Scottish Borders is within commuting distance from Edinburgh.

For the community and weight management setting you will be required to travel to deliver service needs, and a driving licence is essential.
